This is a Statement

This is a statement, not art

You could argue for hours, but it would not be any less a statement or any more a piece of art. What it is, however, is thought through using graphical design-theory.

I also know that posting this makes me a pretentious ass.

As for what it actually depicts, it is "Times New Roman" written in Arial on white background with a slight foggy, black, low-opacity boarder.
I experimented with adding more elements back and forth, but ultimately decided it would just cloud the message.

It was concieved when my textbook in graphical design brough up this very particular poster, and only had good things to say about it.
If you wonder what this is, it is "Helvetica" written in the font ITC Garamond and positioned off-center vertically.
It is also, and this is what makes me even more a pretentious ass, bullshit.

So I made something similar, but not as anything artsy, just as a statement.
I decided to use more common fonts, seeing as most people aren't fontgeeky enough to see the difference between Helvetica and ITC Garamond without reference.
If you are a fontgeek, then don't feel bad, because you're in the same group as many of my teachers, most of whom I respect.
I just wanted to make something that wasn't fontgeeky, or rather, wasn't an epitome of fontgeekiness.

This was even made with 600 ppi, so in case I ever start a print-account I will remove the boarder and sell this.

Had dA allowed it, I would've put italic-brackets around the word "Statement", even if italic didn't work. Like this < i>Statement< /i>

Because I just became a pretentious ass like that.
